Currently, I am a SL1 Support Engineer in Deutsch Bank, holding the title of 'Team Lead'. It all sounds dandy and it's anything but that. My job, essentially, is to support the IT infrastructure of all the bank employees, be it director, presidents or the lowest associates..... Unfortunately, most of the people starts to widen the aspect of 'IT' and starts to make me do things i'm not suppose to do.<br /><br />Move furniture.<br /><br />Carry PC.<br /><br />Setup HP (!!??? WTF??!!)<br /><br />Help the overseas IT support (that apparently, as far as i know, is an IT illiterate and earn twice the salary)<br /><br />My Dad did not spend thousands of dollars on my education and i did not 'waste' decades of my life studying just to move furniture. Just to carry PC from point A to Point B. I am an IT Support. NOT a phone Support. Call fucking Singtel/Starhub/M1 !!! If the overseas IT support do not know what to do, i am GLADLY available to help. For once. For twice. NOT EVERYTIME!!! They might as well give half of their paycheck to me.<br /><br />All these bullshit really makes me think hard for my future. And the final nail in the coffin is when during once of the department move, i was in the meeting where they discussed the different furniture going to be distributed to the different departments. The comment that pissed me off is when they said the traders will get the better furniture, if there were any leftover, then the IES (basically IT dept) can choose. Sons of bitches !!!!<br /><br />The effort i put in my studies & work is no less than those business graduates, and yet, those fresh business grads are already getting more paycheck than me. Why am I 'punished' because i choose to study IT? It's not fault!! I study IT not because it's my interest, but because it's the subject i hate the less after O level. And basically i am going to pay the price for a wrong choice i made eons ago. I might get Distinction for my Final Year project, i might be a living IT knowledge base, able to solve the toughest programming code and able to slough 16 hours a day and yet i am earning less than them for their half the effort.<br /><br />I begin to realized, that the money makers were not the creators, the one that 'know stuffs', but rather the ones that know 'manage stuffs'. Microsoft may be the richest company in the world but i bet Bill Gates has nothing to do with any coding in the latest version (or any version since Windows 98), yet him (and the stockholders) were the one getting the fat paycheck, getting the fruits of the labor while the REAL creators (programmers, bug testers, support) will continue to slough and yet not recognized and getting the reward they deserved. <br /><br />I want to be achieve a certain personal assets level.<br /><br />I want to attain a certain society status level.<br /><br />And IT is not the path for that. At least not IT Support (and programmers, testers, administrators, system engineers, web designers, etc).<br /><br />I can't change the world to appreciate the IT line. I can't change the world. And so i will change FOR the world.<br /><br />So that does it, i am switching line. Not now of course. But i give myself 2 - 3 years. I am switching to business. Fortunately, i have nothing to lose. Both my parents were working and certainly can live (quite sparingly i might add) without my monthly 'miserly' allowance. I have no life partner, no kids, no nothing. I definitely am still 'young' (age 25 as of this writing..not 'fresh grad' young but definitely needs more roughing) so can just abandon everything start from scratch. And i am. Currently I am taking a Degree in IT & Business but the IT part is definitely in my back burner. Of course, nobody can succeed in business just by studying and in fact, i am getting this degree just for the paper, not the knowledge because the 'educationing' of business starts in the real world, not in tutorials or textbook.<br /><br />It's a tough road ahead. But i'll pull through. I'll fall down but i'll stand up again. I'll fail but i've been failing all my life so one more isn't a big deal. But i'll come back. I will be in business. Those people that looks down on me will bite their own tongue. It'll be a long rough path but i'll make it. DON"T wish me luck. I don't believe in luck. I don't believe in luck (or god for that matter). I believe in myself. I am the miracle. Read on....<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />So it's a friday casual night. It's knockoff time. Time for me to relax, to visit Kino every weekly and buy my usual dosage of comic books. But then, this friday is abit different. One of my colleagues suggested me to follow them on one of their 'happy hour' trip. I thought 'why not? It's been AGES (half a decade actually) since i actually visit those nightly sights. The comics could certainly wait for a few days'. And so i followed them. And thus, my path of lust begins....<br /><br /><br />'Ok, so.......it's a trip to Geylang?' is the only thing in my mind when we reached the destination. Okay, we are certainly NOT going to visit any brothel but then just somewhere near, one of those 'KTVs' that is.....but take note, this is certainly not the K-BOX ktv and certainly not one of those that i'll ever dare venture on. My colleague ask me to bring some 'spare cash' and initially, i was bewildered by that. 15 minutes inside the 'KTV', i finally knew the purpose of those 'spare cash'.....<br /><br />The initial first few minutes, i just pick a song and sing. Not much difference from any KTV, just more smell of booze and ciggerettes. But when the first female just came in to our room out of nowhere and sit right next to one of my colleague, i knew what i was into. 5 minutes later, more ladies came in. One by one, they sited beside us. Initially, i rejected one of the ladies. But lo and behold, after succumbing to peer pressure, one lady is already at my side, pouncing on me like a wolf eyeing on its prey. I was trying hard to sing the song but the temptation kicks into overdrive. Plus, i was really curious about the 'whole procedure'. Let it be known to all that read this blog that i am STILL a virgin (at age 25 as of 2007) with NO experience of hanky panky whatsoever (NEVER had a gf before and i really don't care). So when she started to go touchy, i decided to go with the flow of the game. I touched her bum, then her bust and when she decided to go with the lips part, i said in my heart 'Hell fuck? Why not?'.<br /><br />So yeah, she kissed me and i kissed her.<br /><br />And then she did the tongue on me, and i of course did it on her too.<br /><br />Mind you, this is as far as it goes.<br /><br />After that, she made the excuse to leave but promised she'll be back. I knew she's probably going to serve other 'prospective clients' next door so i allowed her to leave while i made my trip to the gents............to rinse my mouth.<br /><br /><br />There you go, my virgin kiss, gone with winds, gone with the whore (as if anybody cares).<br /><br />After that, i went back to the room. While my other colleagues started to go more 'happy' with the other girls, i just sit there and continue my singing session, pretending to look hack care while they do whatever they do with the ladies.<br /><br /><br />Throughout the whole 4 hours+ session, i was singing most of the time while them lechers just continue their thing. 'My girl' never came back (thanks goodness) until when the place is gonna close. She apologised for not 'attending' to me and said of the excuse that it's friday night (the exact reason maybe that there are more clients the next door but whatever!). I know it's transaction so i paid her $20. She gave me a kiss again followed by another half heartedly tongue which i pretend to enjoy (but really reject with disgust). It's not definitely not money well spent....but for a first time experience, this is definitely 'rewarding'.......definitely much more 'enlightening' then watching those on TV and read on books.<br /><br /><br />When i return home that night, the first thing i did is to brush my teeth and also take a good bath to clean off the filth. After that, i was feeling extremely pathetic....that my genesis kiss is given that to a fucking #$%#^^%. I really feel ashame of myself. Don't get me wrong, i'm no men of righteous morals nor am i a fan of fantasy romantism but this is something that's definitely not to be proud of.<br /><br /><br />So now i am here, typing my infamy of shame, wondering can time be turned back. But heck, what the FUCK!!! I'll get it over. Yes, i am pathetic. Yes, no real decent girls want me. But now, at an old age of 25, i no longer have that dreams of romantic love or whatnot. Whores or not, fuck it all to hell. From now on, i turn my mind to my career, my studies, and of course, to the big fat $$$$. All of below entries were written during my trip where i actually carried a notepad with me and wrote down anything that interest me so you can imagine the grammar and writing to be pretty screwed up (as if it's not screwed enough already). And thus begin the epic that is titled 'One Week Winter' Part 1......<br /><br /><br />June 03 Singapore 1549hrs<br />Here I am on my way to the airport. The group's meeting supposed to be @ 1745hrs but i decided to go early (as usual, Kiasu). Just bought this notebook @ Tampines so that I can write down everything that I experience during the journey. I'm surprising calm right now....considering this is my first time gonna be on a plane.<br /><br />June 03 Singapore 1628hrs<br />Just reached Changi Airport. It seems I am more than one hour early (Kiasu has a price). I think I will just go to Times bookshop to read somethings while waiting for the rest.<br /><br />June 03 Singapore 1730hrs<br />Okay, so people are finally arriving and gathering. Hopefully the waiting will be over soon. It's taking bloody long and I can't imagine people are taking the bloody sweet time. even for an overseas holiday trip -_-"<br /><br />June 03 Singapore 1838hrs<br />Got boarding pass. Boarding time is 1920hrs. Stomach's growling so I made my way to the food court and have a chicken porridge meal (that costs $4.95!!). Normally I don't eat dinner but what the hell! It's a holiday trip. I might as well indulge in it. I'm told there will be another meal @ 2200hrs on the plane. Hmm.......<br /><br />June 03 Singapore 1925hrs<br />So I checked in @ the boarding gate. Used some internet while waiting to board the plane. The airconditioner is cold in here, something of a premunition of things to come in New Zealand. I'm told it will be COLD there. Hell freezes over, yeah!<br /><br />June 03 Singapore(?) 2020hrs<br />Finally onboard plane for the 10 hours(!!!) flight! Not bad, I am sitting near the walkway, which means wasy access to the toilet. There seems to be a nice selections of movies they have on their entertainment system. Sitting in a plane doesn't feel much different from a MRT train ride though when the plane is taking off, my ears have that kind of 'weird pressure' like you will get when you took an elevator (first time sitting plane so pardon the 'swakoo'-ness here). Dinner is served @ about singapore time 2200hrs. I had some 'chicken rice' or so they claim. Man, plane meal sucks. Almost reminds me of Combat rations back in the army days. Watched the movie 'King Kong', 'There's something about Mary' and an episode of 'The Simpson'. Felt tired and sleep. Before i knew it, Presto! It's 1.5hours till destination. Breakfast is served @ about Singapore 0400hrs. Had some omelette with sausage and some yoghurt. Read some chapters of my 'The Invisibles' book. Today woke up @ 1pm. Quite late from what I am used to, mebbe because of last night late msn chat until 4am. <br /><br />The first thing i did (beside the brushing of teeth, clearing of bowels, etc) is to get a haircut and also order my bookshelf because i SERIOUSLY needs a haircut and my room is chocked full of books. Got myself a big bookshelf for 150bucks. Quite a steal if u ask me.<br /><br />Got back and have a 50 minutes jog. After that, packed all my stuffs into the bookshelf which is a daunting task by itself. After all these, it's already 7pm so can't be bothered to go anywhere and decided to just stay home and read some of my books.<br /><br />Finally started reading The Invisibles, written by one of my favourite writers, Grant Morrison. And man, what a mind trip it was, full of twist and turn and.....HEADACHES !!! Like his previous work that i've read, Animal Man, Grant Morrison's work is all but imcomprehensible to many especially in the beginning chapters. I can tell you, after finished the 1st volume (out of a total of 7), i was only able to understand less than half of the stuffs but hey....part of the fun is in trying to squeeze your head and make the sense out of everything. And i am enjoying it so far. I am sure, like Animal Man, the ending will tie everything together nicely will a satisfying (and cryptic) conclusion. Hey, my mind's still works so here goes....<br /><br />This morning, one of my old 'junior' back during NS msn me, asking me whether did i got myself into trouble with the 'authority' as he had heard something about me from his 'friend'. I was like 'WTF?? What did i do back then??' And then he say nvm. But then still it scare the guts out of me as my Unit during my NS period was quite 'sensitive'. My, what a way to start the morning !!!<br /><br />The rest of the afternoon were pretty standard stuffs. Meeting here. Meeting there. One thing that to note is that some of my colleagues brought some Gundam Models to the company and it brought out the 'child in me', if u will, as i used to have lotsa of this model when i was a kid. Ahh......the good old days.<br /><br />After the work, i decided to go to Kino to buy some books and accidentally happen to see one of my army friends, the only i think in my company that i can jog faster than me. As i can recall, the last time i did a search job is about February last year when i was fresh out of 'prison' (NS) and looking for a job. Such efficiency this company has !!! Took them almost more than a year to approach me. One of these offers is a web designer/programmer for AVIVA, the insurance company. Another is a financial consultant. Hmm.....i dunno, i seriously considering them cause my current employment is making me, well........bored. A change of career path may be good but then first and foremost<br /><br />1: I am quite sick of computers so the web designer offer is a no go<br />2: I am no business student so me as a financial consultant ?? Whoever i am consultanting can kiss their money good bye.<br />3: I still want to be a Dog Trainer and/or open a pet shop.<br /><br />So there u have it. Decisions. She's one of my good friends and we often go out together. However, being the pessimistic that i am,i just kept thinking to myself that i am not good enuff for her. But like all pessimist, i secretly hope that she 'could' like me...... Like an idiot, i kept thinking everyday & night whether she likes me or not. Soon, projects and examinations revisions are neglected with me thinking (pondering ?? Dreaming ?? I dunno) about the same questions every night. Sometimes i cried, other times i laughed.......i am almost becoming a freak.<br /><br />Then out of no reasons, i suddenly want to stop all these nonsense. My work in polytechnical suffered and i was really going nowhere. I decided to stop talking to her, delete her contacts from my ICQ, email, msn, handphone, everything. I just want to erase her from my mind. And it sorta worked. My academic results gradually improved and i was able to cope with life again somehow....but deep down inside, i still missed her deeply. I'm not afraid to tell anybody that i have not yet like another girl since.<br /><br />Earlier, through some connections, i accidently stumbled upon her friendster add decided to add her to my friends list. Then i start messaging her in friendster. I got her new hp and even sms her once (and only once...in january). But like a fool, i seems to be taking the same wrong steps that i was taking back then. Just recently, i added her to my msn and just yesterday, i msn her and we have a small chat. I tried to act cool and tried to be friendly (which she did too). But i also learned that she is not yet attached but is leaving singapore soon. But the true revelation is that i finally know the answer that i was always asking myself back then.......Does she like me ???<br /><br />The answer is....what i always know....No. Which isn't surprising. Actually, i didn't directly ask her whether she like me...but i DID get to know she like whom all these while (and it's someone i absolutely hates, even if he's not my 'love rival'). Instead of feeling all sad and groovy, i felt actually kinda strange and somehow relieved and 'light hearted'. It's like somebody that visit a prostitute, then visit the doctor whether he's HIV positive or not and then the results is negative (bad examples i know).<br /><br />For know, i can't say that my feeling for her is completely gone but i actually have the answers and so i can finally know stop imaging things and get my own life going. I've wasted enough of my life, indulge in this senseless inner struggle and finally and overcome it somehow. While i am not completely changed, rome isn't built in one day, ain't it ??? This particular nervous system called 'Incline Nano Sorting Atom Nimbda Excocell' is supposingly the main culprit for it. It makes the person, hallucinate and blogging apparently, makes this condition worse. The researchers conducting the research urged all bloggers to stop blogging and also urged x**x**, the most INfamous blogger in singapore to stop it too or else........blogging will turn the specific individual into mindless self ego hallucinaing zombies !!! During Primary, almost every year, my form teacher will called my father up and 'complained' to him about my behavior in school. Always never do homework (and correction :D), always fail chinese spelling, ALWAYS fail maths.....And every year, i'll get a beating from my father. Standard. Although i never play truant b4 (not that i didn't want. Just no $$ to go anyway. It's a miracle that i even pass PSLE AND get to the Express Stream (which i've always thought i will definitely go to the Normal Academic Stream at best)!!! <br /> <br />Secondary school years, nothing change. Still lousy results. However, my ALL TIME LOW happened during my Secondary 2 years where during the Mid-Year Examination, i failed 4 out of the total 8 subjects (and the remaining 4 passing subjects have an average score of 55)!!! My class position for that year was number 41 out of 42 students. The 2nd LAST !!! Previously, i will 'just' fail 1 or 2 subjects (most of the time maths & english) and my class position always hovered around the 35+/-. This is the worst of the worst i have ever achived. Luckily, my final year examination grades were not THAT bad and i am able to pass to advance to secondary 3. Whew....... <br /> <br />Something miraculous happened during my secondary 3 & 4 years. For no apparent reasons(REALLY!!!)....my results 'skyrocketed'...Previously, Maths was always one of my weakest subjects, with an average grade of not more den 40 out of 100. In my Sec 3 mid-year examination, i score of WHOPPING 48 ouf of 55 for my E-Maths Paper 1 and a 44 out of 45 for my paper 2 which is a DOUBLE WHOPPING total of 92 over 100 !!!!!! A* !!! I got an A* for my Maths !!! I also dunno why. It just seems easy to me suddenly. And for the record, i got a more than respectable 76 for A.Maths too. Come sec 3 final yr, i got BOTH E.Maths AND A.Maths a grade of A1 (90 and 86 respectively). Totally killer....Sec 4 continues my winning streak as i score even HIGHER and won the class Maths competition. If fact, my grade for my A.Maths was even HIGHER den my E.Maths !!!( I tend to panic when no calculator is involved). My Prelim results for both E & A maths is A1 and i got a class position of 3 out of 44 during the final sec 4 years (although my O level i got A2 & B3 for E & A maths LOL ).... <br /> <br />Poly yr 1 came and this is what i considered 'My Golden Age of studies'....becos i was tearing the competition APART!!! For the record, i score a PERFECT score for my Java Programming test (which my lecturer told me is quite impossible for my level) and got a A for Computing Maths (1+1=10,11+1=100 LOL). Of cos, i got a distinction for Java and A for Computing Maths at the end of yr 1. Things seems to be good.....or not..... <br /> <br />Yr 2, Is wat i always call my '2nd Dark Age' (Sec 2 is the 1st Dark Age). Becos of the worldly distractions such as boozing, clubbing, Counter-Strike-ing and whatnot.....my results were like the shares plunging downwards. I failed one subject (networking) and had to sit for a sup paper during the holidays. (And this is the ever dark taint that has denied me of any entry into any local U). <br /> <br />Yr 3, first semester only job attachment so sure pass. No worry. 2nd semester came with a big bang as we are to do a MAJOR final year project. Becos of some distraction again (the girl i always admire(classmate), admired another person LOL), i was unable to concentrate and instead was always fooling around that gal. But During that yr's Valentine Day where i tried to tackle myself wif that girl and that guy (they had a date and i tackle along :P), i got the hint from the girl that i was 'redundant' and so i finally gave up, deleting her from my memories (and my handphone address book, email contacts, ICQ contacts, class phonebook LOL).......and finally decided to WORk!!! Well, not quite but at least i was present during the project group's discussion session.... I talk cock alot wif the project supervisor and manager but did little in terms of project contributions(Sorry,Zhenhui, i know u code the most)...But the results were quite startling as it was surprising. I got DISTINCTION for that project !!! Sucking up wif the boss really helps!!! Although i certainly did not really get this distinction (To Zhenhui again: I give you my Distinction, u gimme ur A).... <br /> <br />Now finally out of those study era, thinking back the study days sure is funny. I although alot of my Army batch boys are going overseas for studies, i am not becos of two reasons: <br /> <br />1. I do not want to go to study JUST because i do not know what to do after ORD. It'll be a waste of money if i fail. I think working and gaining experience(and earning $$$) first is better and more important to me.........at least for now. <br /> <br />2. The most important reason of me not going to study is because NO MONEY !!! Half Life. The constant of where the matter decays (or something). No, not this Half Life. THE HALF LIFE. THE PC GAME THAT BROUGHT CINEMATIC TENSION TO PC GAMING!!! And the much anticipated sequel, Half Life 2(no subtitles, no colons) is going to be what the original is and more. That is if you actually gets to play it........... <br /> <br />First and foremost, Half Life 2 was supposed to arrived in our shores on 16th November. But due to shipping, it'll arrived a day later. This, i had no concerns. But, on 17th November, the distributor of the game, igamesasia, delayed the game till 19th!!! All because they did not ordered enough stocks for this game so they delayed the game to make sure everybody gets it, instead of just releasing the stocks they had. <br /> <br />I'm what one of those poor folks that preordered the game's Collector's Edition (through www.gameshop.com.sg). And i actually got the game LATER than those who didn't preorder it!!! After waiting for the whole day for the game to be delivered to me, the game arrived at my doorsteps at about 11pm because of the god damn rain!!! After that, i excitedly, open the package and proceed to install the game. Installation took some time but i acceptable. It is the F#$@ING unlocking part that is WAY TOO LONG. After the unlocking it, I still have to update the game which took an even LONGER time. Overall, the game took about 5 hours to install, unlock and update, which is too unreasonable. <br /> <br />'Great' work Valve, Steam just made me look like a clown staring at the percentage window, 'anxiously, waiting for it to proceed. I beat dogs. But before you call the SPCA hotline, hear me out first. <br /> <br />I've always got an affinity with dogs. I was born in 1982, the year of the dog. And my family used to keep dogs when i was a kid. So when I was posted to my current Army unit, I immediately volunteered myself for dog course and dog patrol duty. The 2 weeks course was enjoyable and that's saying alot for an SAF course. Unfortunately, my duty was not........ <br /> <br />The first few dog patrol that i carried out was quite alright. Just 'walk the dog' and you called that 'duty'? Indeed life as a dog handler in my camp was pretty slack. However 2 weeks later, due to some inknown reason, the dog that I was assigned to was sick and I was given another dog. A Labrador Retriever named 'Eric'. And that was when hell starts....... <br /> <br />There are different types of men in this world. Some are wimpy while others are bullies. Same with dogs. 'Eric' is completely different from any dogs that I've handled before. He doesn't listen to orders and is extremely untamable. My first patrol with him took almost an hour as he refused to walk. I had to literally drag him with the leash with me. Thinking that he was still unfamiliar with me, i decided not to pursue the matter with him (he is afterall a dog). But when he tried to bite me when I was brushing his tail, I knew this was the last straw. <br /> <br />Rule number one for guard dogs: Never ever bite its own handler (or master). And 'Eric' actually dare to break this 'taboo' for guard dogs which would led him to be put to sleep. And when i mean he bites me, he really do. He bit my leg and used his paws to scratch my hands. I immediately kicked him away. Luckily he was tied to an area or he would have continue his attack and who knows what will happen to me. Still recovering from the shock of the attack, I immediately take his leash and whipped him hard. Real hard. Then i kicked him in the head and splash some water on him. Luckily my injury wan't that serious or i would have continue my 'judgement' on him. <br /> <br />The next day after sending him back to dog wing, a senior dog handler told me that 'Eric' was indeed untamable. In fact, he will bite at anybody that tried to muzzle him or touch his tail. So much so that their officers also gave up on him and refused to bathe him (as he 'll bite those who bathe him too). The senior also told me that guard dogs are very dominant creatures. If they sense that their handlers are very weak and not very firm, they'll actually 'heck care' about the handlers so to speak. He told me that in order to have the dogs under my command, I sometimes have to beat them if they are naughty. Of course, they are special ways to beat them and the thing is never kick their stomach or their skull. He also told me not to treat them like pet dogs because they are obviously not and can be dangerous. <br /> <br />Almost two years and lot of scars, I can proudly says that now, ALL guard dogs under my command are extremely obedient to me. First off, the singapore govt announce a new law that states that, by next year, all unauthorised download will be consider a criminal act and if caught, will be fine up to $20000 max or 6 month in jail. What does this means to me ? No more BT download from next year onwards !!!!! WTF !!! I am a heavy net user and most of the time, i spent time looking for things to download. Now the Singapore Govt is taking my number one hobby away!!! Argh !!! No more mp3 !!! No more games !!! No more animes !!! <br /> <br />In actualty, i think my isp (singnet) will not be able to catch me since i got alot of protection installed on my system (Firewall among other things). So i guess i will continue this 'criminal act' until they got on me !!! Yes, i am playing with fire but for not letting me download is like cold turkey to me !!!!
